The
lounge is accessed through the french doors from the
dining area, (measuring approx 5.5m x 4.5m (18ft x 15ft) and
has three large sofas, some comfortable chairs and two further
sets of french doors to the front of the property, making
this room quite bright. Additional seating is dotted around
the house and guests are able to bring chairs, stools and
seats in from other rooms to seat larger numbers of guests. The
lounge also features a large log burner - we do try to keep
a ready supply of kindling and logs available to guests.

Stepping outside from either of the sets of double doors we
face towards the large decking area with central fountain
for guests to sit and enjoy the fresh New Forest air. The
front garden area here is easily accessed from the lounge,
and the usable space lends itself well to relaxing outside
as the sun goes down in this secluded location.
For
many years this area has been well-fed for birds, with bird-feeders
and an aviary and seems to be home to many common species
such as Nuthatches, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Coal Tits, Chaffinches
and Greenfinches. The odd pheasant has also been spotted stumbling
on through. Birdfeed is left for guests to feed the birds.
As well as an abundance of birdlife, there is all the expected
ground-based wildlife of the forest in the garden - rabbits
have taken up residence in the bank at the rear of the garden
(approx 30 yards from the house), moles are, quite literally,
having a field day and the foxes are obviously regularly turning
up to try and out-wit the rabbits! A herd of around thirty
deer (including one white deer, possibly a roe) have wandered
past on occasions and the Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary is only
a mile or so away.
