Wheathill Holiday Cottage, Pennington Lymington - Local Information.

Shops: Supermarkets in Lymington, large Safeway at top of the town.
Smaller Waitrose and Tesco in High Street. Tesco open 24hr in summer, and until midnight out of season. Late opening convenience stores, Indian and Chinese takeaways, fish & chip shop in Pennington.

Petrol: In Pennington on A337.

Restaurants: Lymington has the Roundhouse (Italian) at top of High Street, Fat Cats Bistro, Lal Quilla Indian at bottom of High Street, Mandarin Chef Chinese on the quay and various fish restaurants.

Pubs: If you like a real pub, The Musketeer in Pennington is well worth a
visit. A beautiful Arts and Crafts exterior, ale so good that it is the only
pub in the area featured in the CAMRA good beer guide. Like a trip back in time! - no children in main bar but welcome in games room, large open fires. No food in evening - just really good beer and very comfortable
surroundings. The Hobler in Boldre, on A337 between Lymington and Brockenhurst, is also traditional and serves large portions of good food. Children and mobile phones are completely banned!
Plenty of pubs in the High Street and the quay, also nearby are the
Fisherman's rest (All Saints Road) and the Chequers (Ridgeway Lane).
Many pubs in the area are more food orientated and most are child friendly.
The White Horse in Milford has reasonably priced food and a separate family room no less comfortable than the main pub. The Gun in Keyhaven has a good garden and a separate games room where children are welcome. There is a Brewers Fayre family pub with ball pool and outdoor playground in Hordle - the Three Bells, but a very good alternative is the Rising Sun in Wooton, which offers an excellent children's playground but also serves decent food, and stands at the edge of the open forest.

Attractions - see our what to do page.

Beaches - Stony at Milford, going west to Barton (good clifftop café)
Highcliffe (sandy) Highcliffe castle (quieter, sandy and well worth the walk down the steps!), Friars Cliff, Avon beach before reaching Mudeford Quay.
The New Forest - perfect for walks, cycling and horse riding. Cycle hire centres and Wagon Rides at Brockenhurst and Burley.
